Superbowl

I just finished watching Superbowl XXXIX with my brother-in-law. We were the only two that watched the whole thing. Of course the only other people in the house were my mom, two sisters, and two young nieces, and I don't think that any of them really care to watch football. Now don't get me wrong, I don't know much about the sport. I know the basics, objectives, some rules, and some scoring. I'm all the time asking questions whenever I have a guy there with me while I'm watching to have him explain to me why things are called the way they are. I've been going to football games since I was a little girl. My stepfather was the high school football coach, and I was in a marching band for 5 years, with sisters in the marching band 6 years before my years. So I spent some time in the stands. That's when my mom taught me what little she knew.

This reminds me of my freshman year in college. I was living in the dormitory, and Superbowl time came around. Of all the girls in the entire dorm, I was the only one that watched the Superbowl. There were two TV lounges. I was forced to go to the one less used upstairs because all the other girls were watching something like Buffy or Angel or Dawson's Creek in the regular TV lounge. I sat up in that room all by myself the entire game yelling and screaming at the TV screen, calling up Nate from my cell phone occasionally asking him to explain to me certain calls or just to comment on an awesome play or a funny commercial. I don't know if I annoyed him that night, I probably did, but I really had to have someone to "watch" the game with. Thanks, Nate. I love ya, man. **tear rolls down my cheek**
